- Description
- Size 2-3cm, near surface spot. This particular ctenophore can extend two extremely long fishing filaments bearing numerous threads equipped with colloblasts. As seen on the second shot, when Callianira digests krill, their photophores break apart and make their canals apear full of glitter! Info provided by Alejandro Damián Serrano, ocean zooplankton natural historian studying siphonophore predation, Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Yale University.
