- Description
- These are either robin tracks or mourning dove tracks. When I saw these in the field, I presumed they were mourning dove, based in large part on the habitat and the long trail of fairly short steps. My colleague later IDed them as robin, looking primarily at the individual tracks. Looking back at my photos, I'm leaning toward robin as well. The step length is about 3", which is shorter than what Elbroch lists for robin running or skipping trails. But the track proportions appear to be a better match for robin than dove--so I'm going with that for now and welcome correction.
